Christmas Eve with the Kim Family

Dinner with Rachel's boss and her family was awesome. Just look at the spread... They went all-out with dinner and 15 year old whiskey and desserts and kimchi. They all enjoyed the presents we brought and Rachel and I got matching hats from them. A good time was had by all.

Poor Charlie (in the Santa hat) was in a fight in school last week. He's gonna have that black eye for a few more weeks.

I can't believe I got "rabbit-eared" by a Korean.

I can't believe there's a Korean actually named Charlie.

Many Koreans have "Western" names. A lot of the time they get them from waygooks- foreigners- teaching English in Korea. Our friend Andrea has given out dozens of names in her year and a half of teaching. "Charlie" is not bad compared to the poor Korean bastards named "Horace", "Walter", or "Frank".

I was just saying from the standpoint that that is what the army called the Vietnamese during the war. So any time I see or hear of an oriental named Charlie, I chuckle, no matter where they are from.

Oh, I know where you're coming from, Michael... You ethnocentric bastard. Sitting in your posh apartment with your fancy Hebrew name...

BTW: When are you coming to visit? The ladies here like a big, strapping fella.

Hebrew is good. I'll see when I can actually get away from this godforsaken place long enough to actually enjoy a trip. I think TJ is could let Andy go soon if he doesn't start paying more attention. He didn't show up to run the bowl game on Friday and TJ had to stay the whole time with a basketball game on after that. So the dude I was grooming might not be here much longer. BTW Gamecocks won. whoo-hoo. finished 8-5.

Also, can I come over there and sing "Glory of Love" by Chicago? Would that help land the ladies more than being big and strapping?

You can sing Chicago songs, but only in Korean.
